For those that can handle the heat, a festival dedicated to hot sauce is launching in the capital on April 13 – and will even include some fiery games.
The all-day event, running from 11am-11pm at Peckham’s Copeland Park, is set to host more than 30 independent hot sauce brands from across the UK and further afield.
Spice enthusiasts can sample hot sauces, fiery chutneys and chilli jams from independent traders, while games inspired by the popular condiments will be on offer too – including hot sauce beer pong, where winners can pick up some (literally) saucy prizes. Athletic types can test their strength in the “strong-and-spicy-human” competition, featuring a fairground-style high striker machine.
Elsewhere, there'll be Chilli Karaoke, themed craft workshops, and DJ sets from Disco Hot Sauce, Hip Hop Sauce and Howl at the Moon.
Other highlights are set to include street food traders Lord of the Wings, with kebabs and chicken wings on the menu, alongside vegan curries from En Root and kebabs from the Babek Brothers. Bars around the festival will serve up cocktails, local beers and the fearsome sounding Peckham Michelada, a blend of lager, tequila, tomato juice and hot sauce.
The foodie festival, hosted by the Hot Sauce Society, is set to run in collaboration with Frank's RedHot Sauce.
